Major CBSE Negligence: Student Vedant Receives Correct Answer Sheet Following Mix-up CBSE’s Major Negligence: Student Vedant Receives Correct Answer Sheet After Copy Swap

This year’s evaluation process of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) continues to be surrounded by controversies. After admitting the big and serious mistake of exchanging answer sheets, CBSE has finally sent class 12 student Vedant Srivastava his original answer sheet. As soon as Vedanta got the correct answer sheet in his hands, he shared its screenshots on the social media platform ‘X’ (earlier Twitter), which are going viral on the internet.

However, the pictures of his answer sheet are attracting the attention of students and parents across the country not only because of the controversy of copy changing, but also because of a very shocking reason. Pictures posted on social media show CBSE Class 12 Physics standard answer booklet, with blue lined sheets, printed question numbers, QR code section and designated places to enter roll number.

Surprisingly, unlike the clean digitized format expected under CBSE’s new modern OSM (Onscreen Marking) digital system, the examiner’s red ink marks and manual checking are clearly visible on these scanned pages.

Were the copies of Vedanta secretly checked? Online speculation intensifies

In the screenshots shared by Vedanta, many answers were marked with red pen tick marks, certifying that the student had solved those difficult sections correctly. Apart from this, a circle has been drawn by hand on the question number and marks given by the examiner. Some important sections contain italic lines, handwritten comments and traditional examiner’s marks which are usually applied during manual (physical) checking of answer copies. All these conventional marks are directly printed on the scanned pages of the original answer booklet.

After these pictures became public, there are diplomatic and strong online speculations that CBSE may have hurriedly got the papers manually checked after this high-profile controversy came to the media. This entire situation has come to light amid the sharp nationwide criticism this year on the board’s digital evaluation system. In the current session, several students from various subjects have leveled serious allegations of negligence on the part of the board, including pages left unchecked, marks below expectations and huge discrepancies in the answer sheet data.

Marks increased from 65 to 74, but the picture is still pending: Vedanta will get the copy checked again

Vedant Srivastava’s total marks have increased from 65 to 74 after the official complaint was filed regarding changing of CBSE 12th answer sheet. The board has accepted its administrative error, but this legal and mental dispute is not over yet. Vedanta has once again raised the finger on the methodology of checking its correct answer sheets and has taken the final decision to get a complete re-evaluation of its copy from CBSE.

Vedant’s brother Siddharth Srivastava exposed this discrepancy and said that in the copy, the student has been given ‘0’ (zero) marks even for some correct answers, which Vedant had solved completely and correctly. For justice against this, they will appeal again through the re-evaluation portal.

It is noteworthy that the whole matter started when Vedant had applied for his scanned copy under the rules of the board after getting much less marks than expected in Physics subject. When he downloaded the scanned copy, he was stunned to see that his Physics answer sheet had been replaced with the answer sheet of a candidate with another roll number. He immediately informed CBSE through email and raised his voice on social media. CBSE came into action only after the tweet went viral and the matter gained momentum.

Student brutally trolled by calling him ‘Pakistani’ for raising his voice

A very sad and bitter aspect of this entire incident has also come to light. Student Vedant’s brother Sidhanth expressed his extreme disappointment and said that when his brother posted the authentic information about the rigging in the answer sheet on social media, some anti-social elements and trolls started harassing and trolling him by calling him ‘Pakistani’.

Siddhant said with a heavy heart, “Due to this narrow mindedness, the main issue of our real educational problems and CBSE’s negligence was completely left behind and an unrelated Pakistani narrative came to the fore on social media. Our entire family has been mentally hurt and disappointed by this unwanted trolling.”

Students surprised after seeing the answer sheet; These 7 big questions raised on CBSE portal and checking:

After seeing the digital copies of the answer sheets, candidates across the country are extremely confused and are registering their strong objections on the following key points:

  • Blur Scanning: How did CBSE allow online marking and evaluation of such highly blurred scan copies? Did the marks get affected due to the blurred pages?

  • Marks deduction in MCQ: Why were marks deducted despite choosing the correct option even in multiple choice (objective) questions?

  • Error in fees portal: Why is the government portal of Re-evaluation and Verification not showing correct and transparent fees? Why are inflated fees being displayed there?

  • Missing pages: How did the entire answer sheets of the students get changed? How did some important pages go missing from many copies?

  • Scissors on correct answers: On what basis are marks deducted for answers written exactly and according to the textbook?

  • Pending of copies: Why have many students still not received their digital answer sheet even after applying and paying the prescribed fee?

  • Incomplete answer sheets: Why were the scanned copies of answer sheets of all the subjects applied for as per rules not made available?

Revaluation portal to be live by May 29; Demand for record 11 lakh copies

In view of the growing controversy and anger of the students, CBSE has officially informed that the online application portal for re-evaluation will be fully activated (live) by May 29.

According to the data released by the board, till the evening of May 26, digital applications of more than 4 lakh students have been received from across the country to get the scanned copies. This year, a record number of more than 11 lakh answer sheet copies have been demanded by the students, out of which the Board has so far made around nine lakh copies available online through digital medium.
