Court awarded death sentence to the accused who murdered two people including an Indian in America

The criminal who shot dead two people, including an Indian, in the American state of Oklahoma in 2002 was sentenced to death on Thursday. According to reports, Michael Dewayne Smith was executed by lethal injection at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester Township. Michael Dwayne Smith was serving the death penalty for the murders of 24-year-old Indian store clerk Sharath Puluru and 40-year-old Jeanette Moore in separate incidents on February 22, 2002.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond released a statement on Smith's execution, saying, I pray that today brings some peace to the families of Janet Miller-Moore and Sharat Puluru. His family had to wait for 22 years for justice and my heart aches for the pain they endured.

“I want the people of Oklahoma to know that the two men that Michael Smith murdered were very decent and good people,” he said. His luck did not favor him. Sharat was a talented young man who had come to America to study. He was an inspiration to many people in his family. He said both were murdered because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. I am grateful that he got justice.

Sharath's brother refused to forgive

At the same time, citing the statement of Harish Puluru, brother of deceased Sharath last month, it was said that Sharath's brother had refused to forgive the accused Smith. He said that I have seen the pain that my parents faced every day. Sharat was a loving son, brother and uncle. He was the life of our family. His sudden and violent death devastated our family. After his murder we are dying every day. We cannot forgive Smith.

He also said that Sharath was a wonderful person, he was the first person in our family to come to America. It was because of him that I became a doctor. When he first came to the United States, I waited for his call at a phone booth in India and cherished every conversation we had.

Before his execution, Smith said in a statement that despite the new evidence, his life was in danger. My attorney, Mark Henry Kane, told my family that he would not file an appeal on my behalf. I am making my statement urging Mr. Henriksen to do his job and fight for my life.
