12-year-old student in Finland takes handgun to school, fellow student dies after being shot, 2 injured

HELSINKI: A 12-year-old student opened fire at a secondary school in Finland on Tuesday morning, killing one student and seriously injuring two others, police said in a statement. After the incident, the student who opened fire has been arrested.

A large number of armed police were deployed around the lower secondary school in Vantaa, a town outside the Finnish capital Helsinki, after reports of shots fired at 9.08 am.

According to the police, the shooter and the victims are all 12 years old. According to the police, the student who opened fire has been arrested with the pistol.

According to the police, a seriously injured student has died. Two other injured students are also in serious condition, said Ilkka Koskimäki, police chief of the Uusimaa Police Department.
