Ahmedabad: India is rapidly moving towards Digital India. However, Digital India poses many challenges for Indian companies and in many ways is yet to be prepared. According to a study, less than 5 percent of companies in India are equipped to deal with cyber security threats. However, a large number of these five percent of companies say such threats are likely to impact their business in the next 12-24 months.
The 2024 Cisco Cyber Security Readiness Index released on Thursday found that only 4 percent of companies in India are prepared to deal with today's cyber risks. Here 59 percent of the companies are in the 'initial or preliminary stage of this preparation'. Globally, 3% of companies are in the 'mature stage', meaning they are ready to deal with cybersecurity threats.
The study revealed that 82 percent of respondents expect a cybersecurity incident to disrupt their business in the next 12-24 months. 'The cost of not being prepared can be huge. 74 percent said they have faced cybersecurity-related issues in the last 12 months. Of the affected people, 55 percent said they suffered a loss of at least US$300,000.
