Incheon, March 30 (Hindustan Reporter) Chinese paddlers dominated the WTT Champions Incheon here on Friday with all seven players booking their place in the quarterfinals.
In men's singles, world number three and second seed Liang Jingkun defeated Slovenian Darko Jorgic 3-1 (7-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-7).
Third-seeded Ma Long defeated South Korean paddler Lim Jong-hoon 3-1, while top-seeded Fan Zhendong also advanced.
In the women's singles, world No. 1 and top seed Sun Yingsha defeated Swedish paddler Linda Bergstrom 11-3, 11-3, 9-11, 13-11 to enter the quarterfinals. In the next round, she will face No. 5 seed Hina Hayata of Japan.
In another match, third seed Wang Yidi defeated Romanian Elizabeth Samara 11-4, 10-12, 13-11, 11-2. She will face Austrian paddler Sofia Polkanova in the quarterfinals.
In her clash with Japan's Miwa Harimoto, world number 4 Chen Meng registered an easy win 11-5, 11-7, 11-8, while second seed Wang Manyu defeated Chinese Taipei player Cheng I-Ching 11-7, 11-8. Defeated 12-10, 11-6.
The first WTT Champions Series in 2024 and a prize fund of US$300,000, the tournament features the world's top players. Champions of this tournament will also earn 1,000 ITTF World Ranking points.
