Hamirpur, March 29 (HS). Troubled by debt from moneylenders and mental stress, a transport department driver committed suicide by hanging himself on Friday. The police started investigation by sending the body for postmortem.
Phool Singh, a resident of Shastri Nagar of Gohand town under Jaria police station area, ended his life by hanging himself in his house. When Phool Singh's wife Rekha saw her husband's dead body hanging from the noose, she was shocked.
Family members told that Phool Singh was posted as a driver in Mahoba Transport Roadways Depot. He had a debt of about five lakh rupees from moneylenders, due to which he was in trouble. For this reason he committed suicide by hanging himself. Inspector in-charge said that the matter is being investigated by sending the body for post-mortem.
