Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli made an important record in his name during the match played against Punjab Kings on Monday. Kohli has left behind former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina in terms of taking most catches in T-20. RCB registered their first win in IPL 2024 by defeating Punjab at their home ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Holi evening. Earlier, RCB faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where the team had to face defeat.
Virat Kohli has gone ahead of all Indian players in terms of taking most catches in T20. Kohli made this record in his name by catching the catches of Punjab Kings batsmen Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan. Bairstow tried to play a shot on Mohammad Siraj's ball and Kohli ran and took the catch. Kohli has taken 174 catches in the T20 format and has overtaken Raina, who has taken 172 catches in the shortest format of the game. At third place is Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who has taken 167 catches in T20.
Overall, the record for taking most catches in international cricket is held by former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard. Pollard took 362 catches in his T20 career. After this, South African batsman David Miller is in second place, who has taken 290 catches. Former West Indies batsman Dwayne Bravo is at third place in this list with 271 catches.
