Former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board Shahryar Khan passed away. He was 89 years old. Apart from being a cricket fan, Shahryar has also been a diplomat. Shahryar played a key role in reviving cricket in India and Pakistan in the 2000s. Shahryar held responsibility in PCB from 2003 to 2006. India visited Pakistan twice during his tenure. After this he also remained PCB Chairman from 2014 to 2017. Apart from this, he was also the manager of Pakistan team in India tour in 1999 and ODI World Cup in 2003.
Former PCB chairman Shahryar also had relations with India. He was born in Bhopal and was a member of the royal family here. Apart from this, Shahryar was the cousin of former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Shahryar was the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan from 1990 to 1994 and was also posted as High Commissioner to India and England.
Current Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi has expressed grief over the demise of Shahryar Khan. He said that on behalf of PCB, I express grief over the demise of our former chairman Shahryar. He was a great fan and served Pakistan cricket to the best of his ability. We will always be indebted to Shahryar for his commendable role as the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board and his commendable role in the development of the country's sport.
