Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day official visit to Bhutan, has been honored with the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, his country's highest civilian honour, by Bhutan's King Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk. PM Modi has become the first head of any country to receive Bhutan's highest civilian honour. This is Modi's third official visit to Bhutan since becoming Prime Minister for the first time in 2014. After receiving Bhutan's highest civilian honour, he said in a social media post, “I present this honor to 140 crore Indians.” Speaking at the ceremony, he said that receiving Bhutan's highest civilian honor is an important opportunity for me as an Indian. Although every honor is important, but receiving honor from another country shows the progress of relations between two countries. This honor is not just mine but the honor of 1.40 billion Indians. I accept this honor on behalf of all Indians.
In Thimphu, some Bhutanese girls dressed in traditional Indian clothes performed on Garba recently coined by PM Modi. Modi watched this demonstration with full concentration and appreciated it.
