According to a report, KL Rahul has sought leave from the selectors for the series against England. Rahul has requested for rest citing fatigue. However, he has informed the selectors that he will be available for selection for the Champions Trophy. BCCI sources said, ‘Rahul has asked for a break for the series against England but he will be available for selection in the Champions Trophy.’ In the Border-Gavaskar series played against Australia, Rahul scored a total of 276 runs in five matches at an average of 30. In which Rahul performed well in the first two test matches.

Rahul’s brilliant performance in ODI format

KL Rahul has been performing brilliantly in the ODI format for some time now. Rahul played a total of 24 innings in the year 2023. During this period, he scored 1060 runs at an average of 66.25 and also scored 2 centuries and 7 half-centuries. In the year 2024, India played only 3 ODI matches. Out of which Rahul got a chance to play in 2 matches and in which he scored 31 runs at an average of 15.

Will Pant or Samson get a chance in place of Rahul?

Now in the absence of KL Rahul, it will be interesting to see whether Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson will get a chance to play or not. Sanju made a splash with his batting in the white ball cricket series played against South Africa. Pant, on the other hand, has played only one ODI since his comeback last year.
