IPL T20: Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra said he has not tried to convince Hardik Pandya to return to Mumbai Indians, but admitted that the team will miss the star all-rounder's experience in the IPL, starting on March 22. Pandya who led Gujarat to the IPL title in his first season and reached the final last year. He has returned to captain Mumbai Indians for the next season.
Speaking at the press conference, Nehra said, 'In any sport you have to move forward. And you can't buy experience in this. It is not easy to replace Hardik Pandya or Mohammed Shami. But that's a way of learning and that's how the team grows.
The Pandya-Nehra duo performed wonders for Gujarat in the first two seasons and it is fair to question whether the head coach tried to stop the captain from joining Mumbai Indians.
I did not try to convince Pandya to stay: Nehra
Nehra clearly admitted, 'I did not try to convince Pandya to stay. The more you play, the more experience you will gain. And if he had gone to any other franchise, I would have stopped him. He played here for two years, but he moved to the team where he had played for the first 5-6 years.
