After the issuance of the notification to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act i.e. CAA, it has now been implemented in the entire country. The opposition is opposing the CAA. But meanwhile Pakistan has also given a statement regarding CAA.
Pakistan described CAA as discriminatory and said that this law divides people on the basis of religion. Pakistan has issued a statement saying that Indian Muslims do not need to fear this law because CAA will not affect their citizenship.
Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said, “It is clear that the CAA and its rules are discriminatory as they divide people in the name of religion.”
He said that these rules are based on the misconception that minorities are being persecuted in Muslim countries and India is a safe haven for minorities. Criticizing the CAA, Mumtaz said that on 16 December 2019, a resolution was also passed in the Parliament of Pakistan terming the CAA as against international norms of equality.
He said that we believe that minorities will not be targeted within India and the government will take steps in this direction.
What did America say on CAA?
After the notification of CAA in India, America has also reacted on this. America said that it is concerned about the CAA notification and is keeping an eye on it.
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said, India announced the notification of the Citizenship Amendment Act on March 11, about which we are concerned. We are keeping a close eye on how this law will be implemented. Respect for religious freedom and equal treatment of all communities under the law are fundamental democratic principles.
