After the end of the day’s play, when Yashasvi and Rahul were returning to the dressing room, Virat Kohli came in the middle of the field and welcomed the Indian openers with applause. First century partnership in 20 years
The opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul made many big records during their unbroken partnership of 172 runs. This is India’s first opening partnership on Kangaroo soil in the last 20 years. In the year 2004, Virender Sehwag and Akash Chopra had made a partnership of 123 runs. Rahul and Yashasvi are also the first opening pair to make a 150+ run partnership in Australia since 2010. Yashasvi-Rahul batted for two sessions on the second day of the Test. This is the first time since 2018 that an Indian pair has batted for two consecutive sessions in Australia. Earlier in 2018, Kohli and Pujara had batted brilliantly for two seasons.
