Amit Shah stressed that there is a need to improve research and development, data collection mechanisms, partnerships and delivery systems up to the beat constable level in police stations. Now is the time to comprehensively re-evaluate these aspects. Any system becomes obsolete if it remains unchanged for 50 years.
Union Home Minister raised many issues
The Home Minister also highlighted that there have been significant changes in the country, the world, crime scenes and policing system in the last few decades. However, has the Police Science Council evolved in response to these changes? The annual science conference is discussing eight topics including new criminal laws, use of forensic science, disaster management, use of blockchain technology, cyber fraud, policing in smart cities, community policing in tribal areas and countering radicalism.

Amit Shah said that in the last 10 years the authorities have seized 5,45,000 kg of medicines worth Rs 35,000 crore. This is six times more than the amount seized in the 10 years before the Modi government came to power.
