Visa-free entry: China will welcome travelers from nine countries with a new visa-free entry policy, making it easier to explore the “Land of the Red Dragon”. The initiative aims to boost cross-border travel during the holiday season and beyond, by providing simplified access for select nationalities.
Visa-free entry to 9 countries
The announcement was made by Lin Jian (林剑), Deputy Director General of the Department of Press, Communications and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, on 1 November 2024.
According to Lin, the visa-free policy will come into effect from November 8, 2024 and will continue until December 31, 2025, allowing visitors from nine countries to travel to China without a visa.
These countries allow visa-free travel
Holders of ordinary passports from the following nine countries may enter China without a visa for tourism, business, family visits and transit:
- denmark
- Andorra
- norway
- finland
- south korea
- Liechtenstein
- monaco
- iceland
- slovakia
