Goa, March 14 (HS). FC Goa and Bengaluru FC will play their last league match before the upcoming international break in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 at the Fatorda Stadium this evening.
The Blues will enter this match after two consecutive wins. They have defeated Hyderabad FC and Kerala Blasters FC in their last two matches, leaving them level on 21 points with sixth-placed Jamshedpur FC in eighth place. The win will take them straight into the playoffs.
In contrast, Goa is fourth in the table with 33 points from 18 matches. Goa has won its last three matches.
“Normally, when you create a lot of chances, you leave spaces in defence,” FC Goa's Spanish head coach Manolo Marquez said in a pre-conference on Wednesday. Not conceding goals was one of our main strengths in the first part of the season, but now we are conceding goals. Therefore, Punjab FC was able to take three shots on target, which were impossible for any goalkeeper to stop.”
“This is my second month here,” Bengaluru FC’s Spanish head coach Gerard Zaragoza said in the pre-match press conference. The players are starting to understand what I want from them. We are a big club and we know how to play under pressure and we show it in every match.”
So far, 14 matches have been played between the two teams, in which FC Goa has won 3 and Bengaluru has won 7, while 4 matches have been drawn.
