New Delhi, 13 November (HS). The domestic stock market closed with losses for the 5th consecutive day today. The market fell by more than 1.25 percent in the entire day’s trading. Today’s trading also started with a decline. For the first 15 minutes after the market opened, buyers tried to create buying pressure, but after that the bears completely took over the market. Under selling pressure, Sensex fell by more than 1,141 points and Nifty by more than 373 points. After the entire day’s trading, Sensex closed with a fall of 1.25 percent and Nifty with a fall of 1.36 percent.
In today’s trading, all the sectoral indices closed in the red with a decline. The biggest selling took place in realty, automobile and metal sectors today. Similarly, Banking, Pharmaceutical, IT, Capital Goods, Consumer Durable, FMCG, Healthcare, Oil & Gas, Public Sector Enterprise and Tech indices also closed with a decline. There was continuous selling in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a fall of 2.56 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today’s trading with a weakness of 3.08 percent.
Today, due to weakness in the stock market, the wealth of stock market investors decreased by about Rs 7 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined to Rs 430.36 lakh crore (provisional) after today’s trading. Whereas on the last trading day i.e. Tuesday, their market capitalization was Rs 437.24 lakh crore. In this way, investors suffered a loss of about Rs 6.88 lakh crore from today’s trading.
Today, there was active trading in 4,067 shares in BSE during the day’s trading. Of these, 679 shares closed with gains, while 3,292 shares were in decline, while 96 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,488 shares in NSE today. Of these, 266 shares closed in the green mark after earning profit and 2,222 shares closed in the red mark after incurring losses. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 3 shares closed with gains and 27 shares closed with decline. Whereas out of 50 shares included in Nifty, 4 shares closed in green mark and 46 shares closed in red mark.
BSE Sensex opened today with a weakness of 179.65 points at the level of 78,495.53 points. As soon as the trading started, the index was seen recovering in the first 15 minutes after taking support of buying, but after that the market was completely taken over by the sellers. Due to continuous selling, the Sensex fell by 1,141.88 points to reach 77,533.30 around 3 pm. However, in the last half-hour of trading, buyers once again tried to exert force, due to which the index made a slight recovery from the lower level and closed at 77,690.95 points with a weakness of 984.23 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE’s Nifty today started trading with a fall of 61 points at the level of 23,822.45 points. As soon as the market opened, with the support of buying, this index recovered and reached 23,873.60 points, but after this, due to selling pressure, the decline of this index kept increasing. Due to continuous selling, this index fell by 373.85 points to 23,509.60 points. However, with the support of buying in the market after 3 pm, this index recovered about 50 points from the lower level and closed at the level of 23,559.05 points with a weakness of 324.40 points.
After the entire day’s trading, among the stock market’s leading stocks, Britannia joined the list of today’s top 5 gainers with a gain of 0.36 percent, NTPC 0.28 percent, Tata Motors 0.18 percent, Hindustan Unilever 0.14 percent and Infosys 0.02 percent. On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp fell by 4.33 per cent, Hindalco by 3.84 per cent, Tata Steel by 3.57 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra by 3.44 per cent and Eicher Motors by 3.16 per cent joined the list of today’s top 5 losers.
