Vande Bharat Train: 10 new Vande Bharat trains launched today: Check routes, other details

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off 10 new Vande Bharat trains on Tuesday, March 12, taking the total number to over 50 and covering 45 nationwide routes. Currently, Indian Railways operates 41 Vande Bharat Express services, connecting the states with broad gauge (BG) electrified network and spanning 24 states and 256 districts.

Two Vande Bharat trains will run on six routes including Delhi-Katra, Delhi-Varanasi, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Mysuru-Chennai, Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram and now, Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad.

Vande Bharat trains mainly run on the electrified broad gauge network spread across various states.

In December 2023, the Prime Minister inaugurated six additional Vande Bharat trains. These included the second train connecting Katra to New Delhi. Other routes include Amritsar to Delhi, Coimbatore to Bengaluru, Mangalore to Madgaon, Jalna to Mumbai and Ayodhya to Delhi. The second train between Delhi and Varanasi was also inaugurated in December 2023.

Extension to be flagged off today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also flag off the expansion of four Vande Bharat trains on Tuesday.

  • Ahmedabad-Jamnagar Vande Bharat being extended up to Dwarka
  • Ajmer- Delhi Sarai Rohilla Vande Bharat is being expanded to Chandigarh.
  • Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat is being extended to Prayagraj
  • Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod Vande Bharat being extended to Mangaluru

City with maximum number of Vande Bharat trains

Delhi will host the highest number of Vande Bharat trains among cities, with 10 trains terminating in the capital. These trains connect Delhi to various destinations like Dehradun, Amb Andaura, Bhopal, Ayodhya, Amritsar and now Khajuraho.

It is followed by Mumbai with six dedicated trains, which also includes new services to Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. There are five trains in Chennai, and the second Vande Bharat train to Mysore is scheduled to be launched on Tuesday.
