NPCI New Guidelines: National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued new guidelines regarding RuPay card. Under the new guidelines, users using RuPay cards will get exclusive airport lounge access. NPCI's new guidelines also include complimentary access. Following NPCI rules, spending more than Rs 5 lakh will be allowed. These new rules will come into effect from January 1, 2025.

“RuPay has created an exclusive lounge at the T3 departure terminal of Indira Gandhi International Airport,” National Payments Corporation of India said in a circular. This is Rupay's first exclusive lounge at Boarding Pier 11, T3D, near Boarding Gate No. 41… Rupay Exclusive Lounge features food, beverage and entertainment, making it different from other lounges at T3 departures at IGI Airport. Rupay Exclusive Lounge promises to provide its customers with a pleasant stay, exquisite menu and first-of-its-kind entertainment experience…”
These cardholders will get the facility
Please note that the exclusive lounge access will be available only to select RuPay cardholders and will be based on their spend. According to the NPCI circular, “At Terminal 3, Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi, only RuPay credit cardholders (Platinum and higher variants) are allowed RuPay Exclusive Lounge access. Lounge access will be spend based and operated by RuPay Benefit Management System (RBMS). Additionally, member banks and issuers will be required to release details of eligible cardholders every three months.

Keep in mind that the spending limit for Tier 1 is Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. 2 complimentary visits will be given every three months, while for Tier 2 the spend limit is Rs 50,001 to Rs 1,00,000 and they will get 4 free visits every quarter. Apart from this, the spend limit for Tier 3 is Rs 1,00,001 to Rs 5,00,000 and they will get the facility of 8 free visits every quarter, while for Tier 4 the spend limit is Rs 5,00,001 or more. Therefore, there is no limit on free visits.
