Telecom Regulatory Authority of India TRAI has given one more month's time to telecom operators. According to the information, telecom companies had to trace all the commercial messages sent to the users from November 1, so that the users do not find any kind of phishing link in the messages. This also includes one-time passwords. But according to the information that has come out now, TRAI can give one more month's time to the three telecom operators. The government has taken this step to stop activities like spam and phishing.
The new rule will come into effect from December 1
As per the new deadline announced by TRAI, if the messages are not verified through the traceability mandate, they will be blocked from December 1, which was the earlier deadline of November 1.
The country's leading telecom operators Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio told TRAINE about the impact on users of blocking messages that do not follow traceability rules. He says that banks as well as telemarketing companies are not ready for this. He has asked for more time from TRAI.
Telecom companies warn each other daily
However, Airtel, VI and Reliance Jio are issuing daily warnings in this matter. To mitigate these problems, TRAI has allowed companies to have a step-by-step implementation process. Now telecom companies will alert banks, telemarketing companies and other businesses daily till November 30. Even later, messages that do not comply with TRAI's new rules will be banned from December 1.
This rule was to come into effect from October 1
The rule to stop messages containing spam links was earlier to come into effect from October 1. But the deadline has been changed to 1st November and now 1st December. TRAI has given extension to the companies for the second time. To curb spam in the telecom sector and enhance user security, TRAI is taking decisions such as blacklisting organisations, blocking and monitoring mobile numbers and shifting telemarketing calls to blockchain-based platforms.
