After the stampede at Bandra Terminus station in Mumbai, Central Railway has taken a big decision. Central Railway has imposed a temporary ban on the sale of platform tickets at select major stations including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, Pune, Nagpur. The move is aimed at managing crowding on the platforms and ensuring smooth movement of passengers within the station premises. The ban on sale of platform tickets during Diwali and Chhath Puja will remain in effect with immediate effect till November 8. However, during this period, senior citizens and people with medical needs are exempted from these restrictions.

Stampede at Bandra Terminus station

Let us tell you that on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, a stampede broke out at Bandra Terminus station in Mumbai. 10 passengers have been injured in this accident. The condition of two of them is critical. The incident happened late at 2 o'clock in the night. According to the information received, when the train going from Mumbai to Gorakhpur reached the platform, there was a stampede in the race to board the train, due to which about 10 passengers were injured. The injured passengers were immediately admitted to the hospital. Actually, every year during Diwali and Chhath, Indian Railways trains are very crowded. People from different cities of the country go to UP-Bihar to celebrate the festival. During this time, an accident occurred due to large crowd.

Railways issued statement on stampede

After the accident at Bandra Terminus, Railways has said that the schedule of the weekly train Bandra-Gorakhpur Express has been changed. The train was scheduled to leave at 5:10 in the morning. This morning, after being re-scheduled, the train reached the platform late. The car arrived around 3 to 3:30. Due to the huge crowd at the station, there was a stampede to board the ordinary coaches. According to the accident, 9 people have been injured, but Railways has confirmed that a total of 10 people have been injured. Someone has a fracture in his leg and someone has a fracture in his back. Two of the injured have been discharged, the rest have been admitted to Bhabha Hospital. Finally the train left at 5:10, the situation calmed down.
