New Delhi. Once again there is relief news for retired government employees. The Central Government has decided to give additional pension to Central Government pensioners who have completed 80 years of age. This additional amount will be provided to these pensioners as compassionate allowance. Recently, the Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare (DoPPW) has issued an office memo giving this information.
Under this new scheme, retired central government employees who have turned 80 or are about to turn 80 will get additional pension. The government has issued clear guidelines for the distribution of these benefits. Central civil servants include those employees who are serving under the Central Government, but are not members of the military.
You will get pension as soon as you turn 80 years old
According to the new rules, this additional pension will start getting from the first day of the month in which a pensioner turns 80 years old. For example, if a pensioner was born on 20 August 1942, he will get the additional amount from 1 August 2022. Similarly, if the birth is on 1st August, additional pension will start being received from the same day.
Pension will increase after 80 years
On completion of 80 years of age, the pensioner will get an additional amount with an increase of 20% in the basic pension. This benefit will increase according to age – 30% in the age group of 85 to 90 years, 40% in the age group of 90 to 95 years and 100% additional basic pension will be given on completion of 100 years of age. As per Sub-Rule 6 of Rule 44 of the CCS (Pension) Rules 2021, pensioners aged 80 years and above will be entitled to this additional compassionate allowance in their pension, which shows the government's appreciation and respect for their service.
