Varanasi, March 11 (Hindustan Reporter) As soon as the 'Citizenship Amendment Act' (CAA) came into force in the country on Monday, police officers in Kashi along with their forces set out to patrol the streets and lanes of sensitive areas. In the evening, the Central Government issued a notification for the implementation of CAA. In view of the protests against CAA in the past, alert officers marched on foot with full preparation.
Assistant Police Commissioner Bhelupur Dr. Atul Anjan Tripathi, Inspector in-charge Bhelupur patrolled on foot in Khojawan and Bajardiha of sensitive and mixed population of Bhelupur police station area. Officers also patrolled Sankuldhara Pokhara, Gularia Mod, Kashmiri Ganj, Khojwa Bazaar, Gandhi Chowk, Sarai Nandan, Lamhi Masjid, Teliana, Murgiya Tola and other areas. Similarly, ACP Cantt and Shivpur police station in-charge along with the force patrolled on foot at Uday Pratap College, Bhojubir, Gilat Bazaar, Kachari intersection.
DCP Varuna Zone Shyam Narayan Singh, ADCP Varuna Zone, Police Station Incharge Lalpur Pandeypur along with the force patrolled the surrounding areas including Pandeypur, Khajuri, Tadikhana Tiraha.
It is noteworthy that as soon as CAA came into force, state DGP Prashant Kumar has also alerted the officers. Instructions have been given to take action against inflammatory and objectionable posts on social media. Social media is also being monitored from DGP headquarters.
