The central government has said that the issue of paddy procurement and lifting will be resolved within the next four days. This will provide great relief to the farmers busy in the markets.
In fact, the Central Government has sought an extension of four days to deal with the crisis of paddy procurement and lifting in Punjab. On Wednesday, Union Food Minister Prahlad Joshi held a meeting with sheller owners of Punjab. In this, sheller owners said that if the Center does not intervene to resolve crop procurement and lifting, the law and order situation in Punjab may worsen. Now the matter will go to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who has to take the final decision.
Let us tell you that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Recently, he spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on phone and besides solving the problems of sheller owners and farmers, he asked for immediate movement of grains from the state. Even before this, the Union Food Minister had invited sheller owners for a meeting. Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Bittu and senior BJP leader Tarun Chugh also attended the meeting. Punjab Rice Industry Association President Bharat Bhushan Binta and Punjab State Millers Association President Tarsem Saini also attended the event.
During a separate meeting with Bittu and Chugh, these leaders said that this issue should be resolved immediately, rising above politics. Leaders representing rice mill owners demanded that central standards be relaxed and warehouses be freed from movement of grain in Punjab. State President Binta said that the Union Minister has asked for an extension of four days and has asked to keep the matter with the Union Home Minister, because relaxation in rules and concessions will put a financial burden on the government.
Binta said the Center can announce any relaxation in the norms. Binta said harvesting of the crop will begin only when relaxation in norms is announced. Union Minister Joshi assured that the Central Government will lift 125 lakh metric tonnes of grains from all the warehouses of Punjab by June 30, 2025.
