Lucknow, 22 October (HS). Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya has given Rs. 1,000 to the didis of self-help groups formed in the districts of the state with the aim of making them self-reliant, self-reliant and prosperous. An amount of more than Rs 747 crore has been approved. He has instructed the concerned officials to ensure that this amount is sent to the districts as soon as possible. The Deputy Chief Minister has instructed the senior officials of the Rural Development Department to increase the speed of implementation of development works. The training programs of SRLM should be conducted in a quality manner. Instructions were given that the quality of training should be assessed and improvements should be made where needed. Keshav Prasad Maurya was reviewing the work of the Rural Development Department in a high-level meeting held at his camp office on Tuesday.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the objective of the Rural Livelihood Mission is to provide enabling platforms to poor rural people through sustainable livelihood promotion and better financial services to increase their income. NRLM provides for capacity building (through information, skill development, financing and mobilization) of the poor to provide them sustainable livelihoods. The Deputy Chief Minister has directed that there should not be any laxity in the implementation of the arrangements and schemes started by the government to promote the livelihood of women. He directed that the budget of the Rural Development Department should be utilized timely. If women are self-reliant, the society will automatically become empowered. He instructed that special focus should be given on the maintenance and beautification of Amrit Sarovars. Village Chaupals should be made more powerful and effectively successful.
Additional Chief Secretary Rural Development Department Himanshu Kumar, Commissioner Rural Development GS Priyadarshi, Mission Director State Rural Livelihood Mission Deepa Ranjan, Special Secretary Rural Development Department Anil Kumar and other officers were present in the meeting.
