India-Canada Relation: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has expressed concern amid the ongoing dispute between Canada and India. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today broke his silence on the ongoing tension between India and Canada at the World Summit. Speaking at a conference, S Jaishankar said that as far as Canada is concerned, there are some very specific issues.
S Jaishankar said that Canada asked us to make our High Commissioner the subject of a police investigation and we decided to recall the High Commissioner and diplomats.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also issued a statement regarding the threat posed by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and said that the Government of India is not aware of any specific threat against Air India and its passengers.
What did Jaishankar say on Air India's threat?
Jaishankar said, “I am not aware of any specific threat today… but we have seen threats in the past to our airlines, our Parliament, our diplomats and high commissions and our leaders.” He further said that the Foreign Minister, while speaking about the strained political relations between Canada and India following the allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding India's involvement in the murder of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, said that there are several reasons for this. Are responsible.
Double standards is too mild a word for Canada
He further said, Canada has asked us to subject our High Commissioner to a police investigation and we have decided to recall our High Commissioner. It seems they are having trouble getting our diplomats to know what is happening in Canada. This is directly related to their welfare and safety. Canada has double standards. The equations of the world are changing.
On the other hand, he said, the license he grants himself is completely separate from the restrictions placed on diplomats in Canada. Canadian diplomats have no problem going after our military or our police, profiling people, targeting people deployed in Canada.
Jaishankar said, with the restoration of four-year-old status quo on LAC,
Indian and Chinese troops will be able to resume patrolling as before the border blockade began in May 2020. From this we can say that now the army will patrol there. Earlier, Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry had announced that India and China have reached an arrangement for patrolling the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Himalayas and this could lead to withdrawal of troops and resolution of tensions.
This success comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia tomorrow to attend the BRICS summit, Jaishankar said the important thing is that if we reach an agreement, I think it will lay the foundation for peace on the border. Keeps it was before 2020. This was a matter of great concern.
