Two IPLs in a year : IPL is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. IPL has fans not only in India but all over the world. Now big news is coming out regarding IPL. According to media reports, BCCI is planning to organize this league twice a year. The 17th season of IPL is going to start from 22nd March. The opening match of IPL 2024 will be played between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The former coach of the Indian team also said this

Earlier, former Indian team coach Ravi Shastri had also talked about two IPLs in a year. It would not be wrong to say that Ravi Shastri was the first to talk about two IPLs in one year. He said that considering the popularity of this league, soon two IPLs can be organized in a year.

The biggest challenge is finding the right window

The biggest challenge for BCCI is to find the right window. Two IPLs in a year will be possible only if there is no ICC event in the year or multiple bilateral series are not organised. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal accepted this challenge. However, he also talked about exploring alternatives. “We have to find a window for 84 matches and then 94 matches,” he said.

Will IPL be played in T10 format?

It will not be easy for BCCI to find a window for two IPLs in a year. BCCI can organize the second IPL in T10 format instead of T20. In such a situation, the match can be organized in a shorter window. However, Arun Dhumal has confirmed that there has been no discussion regarding the T10 format yet. However, he also said that any future decisions will be taken in the best interests of the game.
