If someone had to make advance booking to travel by train, then according to the railway rules, earlier he was given 120 days time to do so. That means you could book a ticket 4 months in advance for a journey 4 months later. But now Indian Railways has reduced its deadline. Now passengers can book only two months in advance. This means that passengers will be given only 60 days time for booking. Due to changes in railway rules, the problems of passengers with waiting tickets have increased.

Earlier, if someone booked a ticket 120 days in advance and got a ticket in the waiting list, then he had plenty of time to get the ticket confirmed. But now passengers with waiting tickets in 60 days will get less chance to get their tickets confirmed. To avoid booking Tatkal tickets, the common man books the tickets well in advance. But now due to change in rules the common man will face some difficulties. At the same time, the chances of getting confirmed tickets will increase for those who book late. But this decision may increase the fight for tickets during the festival season.

This rule will come into effect from November 1

The Railway Ministry has issued a notification on October 17 giving this information. In the notification issued by the Railways, it has been said that till 31 October 2024, passengers will continue to get the same facilities as before. That means, till October 31, 2024, passengers can still book 120 days in advance. The new rule of Railways will come into effect from 1 November 2024. Let us tell you that this new rule will not be applicable on short route trains like Taj Express and Gomti Express. Along with this, there will be no change in the 365 day booking option available to foreign tourists due to the new rules.
