New Delhi, 16 October (Hindustan Reporter). The Central Government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners by three percent from July 1.
The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved an additional increase of three percent of basic salary or pension from the existing rate of 50 percent to compensate for inflation. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwani Vaishnav gave this information in a press conference at the National Media Centre.
According to the government, this increase is as per the approved formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. Due to DA and DR, there will be an additional burden of Rs 9,448.35 crore per year on the government exchequer. This will benefit about 49.18 lakh employees and 64.89 lakh pensioners.
