Lucknow, 16 October (HS). A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met the Chief Electoral Officer of the state on Wednesday and submitted a letter to conduct the by-election of Milkipur Assembly along with 9 assembly seats. State General Secretary Govind Narayan Shukla, Anoop Gupta, Sanjay Rai and Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan were included in the BJP delegation.
The BJP delegation said in the letter submitted that petition number 68 Election Petition-2022 is pending in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. A petition filed by Gorakhnath, challenging the validity of Awadhesh Prasad, the winning candidate in the Milkipur (Uttar Pradesh) Assembly elections 2022. No stay order or interim order has been passed by the High Court in the said petition. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to conduct the by-election of Milkipur (Uttar Pradesh) Assembly along with the by-elections of the remaining 9 assembly constituencies.
