Mukesh Ambani and Elon Musk: The dispute between the leading Indian telecom companies and Tesla and Starlink owner Elon Musk over the auction of satellite internet and communication spectrum in India has ended. In which due to the decision taken by the government, Elon Musk has won over the Indian telecom players. A dispute arose between Mukesh Ambani's company Reliance Jio and Tesla owner Elon Musk regarding the spectrum auction.
Government took decision
Following Elon Musk's objection to the current auction process, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced the decision not to hold any more auctions for satellite broadband. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal justified the spectrum auction, but Elon Musk objected and called the process invalid. Criticizing the auction process in India, Musk has been trying to enter the Indian telecom sector with his company Starlink, saying India should follow global norms.
Direct allotment instead of auction
Regarding the dispute between Musk and Indian telecom companies, Jyotiraditya Singhia has made an important announcement saying that the allocation of spectrum for satellite broadband will not be done through auction but on administrative basis. Therefore, companies will no longer have to bid high for spectrum.
Why is Musk angry?
Musk's company supports the allocation of Starlink spectrum on administrative grounds. Many companies like Amazon Coupons support global regulations. While Reliance Jio and Airtel were supporting the auction process. Musk protested. It is noteworthy that the American agency International Telecommunication Union (ITU) had talked about nominating the satellite spectrum. India is also a member of ITU.
