New Delhi, 14 October (HS). There was an atmosphere of enthusiasm throughout the day in the domestic stock market on Monday. Today's business also started on a strong note. Shortly after the market opened, buyers made buying efforts, due to which the movement of the stock market increased. After the entire day's trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 0.73 percent and Nifty with a gain of 0.66 percent.
Today, during the day's trading, shares of realty, IT and banking sectors were bought the most. Along with this, Pharmaceutical, FMCG, Automobile, Capital Goods, Consumer Durables, PSE and Tech indices also managed to close with gains. On the other hand, there was selling pressure in shares of metal, media and oil and gas sectors. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.28 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.06 percent.
Today, due to the strength in the stock market, the wealth of stock market investors increased by about Rs 1.5 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased to Rs 463.76 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Whereas on the last trading day of last week i.e. Friday, their market capitalization was Rs 462.27 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 1.49 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 4,195 shares in BSE in the day's trading. Of these, 2,066 shares closed with gains, while 1,977 shares closed with a decline, while 152 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,539 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,251 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 1,288 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 20 shares closed with gains and 10 shares closed with decline. Whereas out of 50 shares included in Nifty, 35 shares closed in green mark and 15 shares closed in red mark.
BSE Sensex opened today at 81,576.93 points with a gain of 195.57 points. There were minor fluctuations in the market for the first half hour, but after this, due to all-round buying, the index gained tremendous momentum. With the support of continuous buying, this index jumped 690.81 points to reach the level of 82,072.17 points. However, the market continued to face selling shocks from time to time in order to book profits, but the intensity of buying was so much that the movement of this index was not much affected. After buying and selling throughout the day, the Sensex closed at 81,973.05 points with a gain of 591.69 points.
Like Sensex, NSE's Nifty jumped 59.20 points today and started trading at 25,023.45 points. After the initial half-hour of trading, the bulls gained momentum, due to which the movement of this index increased. With the support of continuous buying, this index jumped by 195.50 points to reach 25,159.75 points. However, due to last minute selling due to intra-day settlement, this index fell by about 30 points from the upper level and closed at the level of 25,127.95 points with a gain of 163.70 points.
After the whole day's trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, Wipro with a gain of 4.02 percent, Tech Mahindra by 2.76 percent, HDFC Life by 2.31 percent, HDFC Bank by 2.25 percent and Larsen & Toubro by 2.08 percent are included in the list of today's top 5 gainers. On the other hand, ONGC 2.07 per cent, Maruti Suzuki 1.87 per cent, Tata Steel 1.46 per cent, Bajaj Finance 1.28 per cent and Adani Enterprises 1.15 per cent joined the list of today's top 5 losers.
