Coincidentally, on the evening of October 13, a Durga idol immersion procession was passing through a locality of a particular community in Maharajganj town in the Hardi area of Mahsi tehsil of Bahraich. Reportedly during this time, a violent clash broke out between two communities over DJ playing. Meanwhile, some people started pelting stones from the rooftop and opened fire on the protesters, in which a young man named Ram Gopal Mishra got shot.
People took to the streets and vandalized and arsoned.
More than 15 people have also been injured in this incident. All the injured were taken to the hospital where doctors declared Ram Gopal Mishra dead. As soon as the news of Ram Gopal's death spread, there was panic in the entire district. People came out on the streets and started vandalizing and arson. The police also had to use force to control the crowd. The last rites will be performed this morning after the post-mortem late at night.

Tension still persists after stone pelting and firing during Durga idol immersion yatra in Maharajganj of Hardi police station area of Bahraich. A large number of police forces have been deployed to maintain peace. As soon as the body of Ram Gopal, who was killed in the firing, reached the village on Monday morning, there was chaos. Hundreds of people, including family members, took Ramgopal's body with sticks and walked towards the tehsil complex. Meanwhile, Bahraich's female DM Monica Rani was seen explaining to the women. During this, SP Vrinda Shukla was also present.
