Bareilly: Nepali smugglers are circulating fake notes in Bareilly division via Pilibhit. This gang, which is harming the economy, gives fake notes of Rs 50,000 instead of Rs 5,000. A businessman father-son and a friend from Shahjahanpur adopted this path to earn profit, but their trap was exposed. One of them was caught by the shopkeepers and handed over to the police. Apart from this, raids were conducted at many places on Sunday in search of the absconding father and son, but no arrests were made.
The arrested accused Vivek Maurya lives in Shahjahanpur. He was sent to jail in the month of June on charges of circulating fake notes. After being released on bail on 27 September, he again adopted the same path. During interrogation, he told that on September 29, he had met tire businessman Ravi and his son Ayush in Shahjahanpur. Due to prior acquaintance, Ravi was telling that he is in contact with the sellers of fake notes in Mahendragarh, Nepal. After this, last week all three accused reached Nepal out of fear by bus. There Ravi's old waqf handed him fake notes and returned.
After coming to Shahjahanpur, all three people distributed fake notes. After this he started running small shops. On Saturday evening, a fake note of Rs 500 was given in exchange of vegetables worth Rs 100 in Bareilly's Delapir Mandi. The unknown shopkeeper returned Rs 400 to him. Similarly, he also made purchases from other shopkeepers, but one shopkeeper recognized the fake notes and called the policemen. Inspector Dhananjay Pandey says that Vivek Maurya has been caught from the spot. When he was searched, more notes were recovered from his pocket. The remaining two have run away with fake notes.
