Since the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7 last year, there have been almost daily clashes between the Israeli army and the border along the border. Earlier this month, Israel launched a ground offensive in southern Lebanon.
60,000 people evacuated from northern Israel
Israel says it is attacking Hezbollah to allow displaced Israeli civilians to return safely to the north near the border with Lebanon. An estimated 60,000 people were displaced from northern Israel due to Hezbollah attacks.
Israel shoots down a Lebanese missile
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday morning that it shot down a missile in the air over the Galilee, referring to Israeli territory near the border with Lebanon. In a post on social media the IDF said the launch was from Lebanon. Hezbollah claimed it fired missiles “targeting an explosives factory south of Haifa city.” Israel's military told residents of southern Lebanon on Saturday morning not to return to their homes amid ongoing fighting.
