Varanasi, 12 October (Hindustan Reporter). The festival of Vijayadashami holds a special place in the scriptures. This day is celebrated as the victory of Lord Shri Ram over Ravana, which symbolizes the victory of religion over unrighteousness, truth over untruth and light over darkness. This day is also mentioned in the Mahabharata, when the Pandavas ended their exile and reclaimed their weapons. According to the scriptures, this day is a day to worship strength and bravery. These statements were made by the Vice Chancellor of Sampoornanand Sanskrit University, Prof. Belongs to Bihari Lal Sharma.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharma greeted the university family members, students and society on the occasion of Vijayadashami festival on Saturday. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor also explained the classical aspect of the Mahaparva and its social importance. He said Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, symbolizes the victory of good over evil in Indian culture and its classical significance is deeply rooted in Indian religion and philosophy. After nine days of fasting and worship of the Goddess during Navratri, the worship of Shakti on Vijayadashami, on the tenth day, is said to have special significance. It symbolizes not only victory over external enemies, but also victory over one's internal vices, such as anger, ego and greed.
This festival always inspires us to follow the path of religion and defeat the evils within us. Vijayadashami is not only important from historical and religious point of view but it also symbolizes the re-establishment of eternal values of life and the welfare of humanity. The festival is also very important from social and cultural point of view in Indian society. This festival provides an opportunity to unite the entire society, increase mutual harmony and re-establish moral values. This festival, along with the organization of Ramlila and the burning of Ravana, gives a message to the society that no matter how powerful evil is, truth and religion definitely triumph.
Vijayadashami is also very relevant in today's social context. This festival teaches us that we should unite and face the inequalities, violence and other evils prevalent in the society. Just as Shri Ram established religion by killing Ravana, similarly today's society should also resolve to end social evils by following the path of morality, tolerance and truth.
