New Delhi, 12 October (Hindustan Reporter). Indian fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has signed a two-year contract extension with Sussex for the 2025 and 2026 County Championship seasons. Unadkat first signed with Sussex in 2023 and in his debut season he took 11 wickets in three matches. He returned to the team in 2024 and took 22 wickets in five matches at an average of 14.40. His excellent performances with the ball directly helped Sussex win the Division Two title.
Unadkat was quoted as saying in a release issued by the team, “When I came to Hove last year, I was not sure what the County Championship would entail and how I would adapt to it. But now after a few games, I can definitely say that Hove is my second home away from home and good old Sussex by the Sea wins my heart.”
Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace spoke openly about the quality he provides to the team as a player and a person.
He said, “Everyone at Hov is very happy and excited that Jaydev [उनादकट] “Has signed a two-year extension and will return to the club for the next two seasons.”
“Jaydev’s quality on the pitch is obvious to everyone, but his qualities as a person make him one of the most popular and best signings any team could wish for,” he said.
Unadkat is currently leading Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy, which began on Friday. Notably, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Unadkat had a disappointing season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, taking 8 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 10.24.
