Jalaun, 10 October (Hindustanism). Ramlila organized in Konch Nagar of Jalaun is done in a unique way. Here the artists present live scenes. On the lines of Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana, the Ravana-Jatayu war, Sita abduction and Maricha slaughter are staged here. Thousands of people gather to see this unique style. Due to which the administration and police remain deployed in security arrangements.
This Ramleela of Konch Nagar has been going on for 172 years. It is considered to be the biggest plains Ramlila after Ayodhya and Banaras. Here the roles of Ram, Lakshman and Sita are played by small Brahmin children. The battle scenes are displayed in a lively manner in the field.
Ramlila Committee official Sanjay Singhal said that this live performance by the artists of Konch is not seen anywhere else in the entire country. Both Hindu and Muslim communities participate together in this event. Due to which it becomes a symbol of unity.
Research of this Ramlila has also been done by Ayodhya Institute. It has also been recorded in the Limca Book of the World Records. 12 years ago, Indrani Ramadoss, niece of the former Prime Minister of Tobago and Trinidad, was sent to research the history of this Ramlila. This Ramlila is important not only from religious but also from cultural point of view. Efforts are underway to preserve its unique tradition.
