New Delhi, 10 October (Hindustan Reporter). After facing ups and downs throughout the day, the domestic stock market closed with a slight gain on Thursday. Today's trading started on a strong note, but the bulls and bears tried to dominate each other throughout the day. After the entire day's trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 0.18 percent and Nifty with a gain of 0.07 percent.
Today, during the day's trading, shares of pharmaceutical, IT and realty sectors were sold the most. Similarly, Consumer Durables, FMCG, Healthcare and Tech indices also closed with a decline. Buying continued in shares of banking, automobile, capital goods, metal, public sector enterprise and oil and gas sectors. There was mixed trading in the broad market today. Midcap shares became victims of selling, due to which the BSE Midcap index closed with a decline of 0.36 per cent. On the other hand, buying continued in smaller stocks, due to which the Smallcap index closed 0.43 per cent higher.
Despite the strength in the stock market today, the wealth of stock market investors decreased by more than Rs 5 thousand crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined to Rs 462,08,923.72 crore (provisional) after today's trading. Their market capitalization on the last trading day i.e. Wednesday was Rs 462,14,144.39 crore. In this way, investors suffered a loss of about Rs 5,150.67 crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 4,046 shares in BSE in the day's trading. Of these, 2,251 shares closed with gains, while 1,663 shares were in decline and 132 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,493 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,344 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 1,149 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 14 shares closed with gains and 16 shares closed with decline. Out of 50 stocks included in Nifty, 23 stocks closed in the green mark and 27 stocks closed in the red mark.
BSE Sensex opened today at 81,832.66 points with a gain of 365.56 points. As soon as the trading started, a tussle started between buyers and sellers in the market, due to which the movement of this index also kept fluctuating continuously. With the support of buying, this index jumped 533.74 points to reach 82,002.84 points. But later, due to selling pressure, it dived to 81,538.94 points. After the entire day's trading, the Sensex closed at 81,611.41 points with a gain of 144.31 points.
Like Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today at 25,067.05 points with a gain of 85.10 points. As soon as the market opened, bulls and bears started trying to dominate each other, due to which the movement of this index also kept going up and down. With the support of buying, this index jumped 152.10 points to reach 25,134.05 points. Similarly, due to selling pressure, this index lost all its gains and fell to 24,979.40 points with a slight weakness of 2.55 points. However, due to buying due to intra-day settlement in the last round of trading, Nifty closed at 24,998.45 points with a gain of 16.50 points.
