Mumbai, 9 October (Hindustan Reporter). After a good performance in the Irani Cup, Tanush Kotian has been included in the 16-member Mumbai squad for the first two rounds of Ranji Trophy 2024-25, starting from October 11.
In the elite Group A of the Ranji Trophy, Mumbai will take on Baroda at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Friday. The other teams in Elite Group A in Ranji Trophy are Jammu and Kashmir, Services, Meghalaya, Tripura and Odisha. Mumbai will host Maharashtra at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy from October 18.
Rajasthan Royals cricketer Kotian has been in good form as he heads into the ongoing Ranji Trophy campaign. Kotian was part of the India A team that won the Duleep Trophy 2024 in Anantapur last month. 25-year-old Tanush took 10 wickets in three matches at an average of 22.00 and an impressive strike rate of 45.60. He also scored 121 runs.
After winning the Duleep Trophy, the all-rounder helped Mumbai win the Irani Cup after 27 years. He scored a half-century in the first innings and rescued his team from a dangerous situation by scoring an unbeaten century in the second innings. He also took three wickets in the same match.
Tanush had performed well for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy last year. He contributed with both bat and ball and took 29 wickets and scored over 500 runs. He was the player of the series.
Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team and will get the services of Prithvi Shaw, Shardul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer.
