Colombo: India's Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met Sri Lankan President Anurakumar Dissanayake on Friday. And there was discussion on establishing cooperation between the two countries and strengthening the relations between the two countries. Along with this, Jaishankar gave full assurance of India's full support in the economic revival of Sri Lanka.
It is noteworthy that Jaishankar is the first foreign dignitary to visit Sri Lanka after the formation of Dishanayake's government.
When Jaishankar arrived to visit the island nation on Friday morning, he was received at the airport by Sri Lankan Foreign Secretary Aruni Vijayendre and India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.
Almost immediately thereafter he met the President of Sri Lanka and the President of India Draupadi Murmu gave him a handwritten congratulatory message.
Jaishankar also spoke to Sri Lankan Foreign Secretary Aruni Wijewardene.
Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath welcomed Jaishankar. He held talks to strengthen relations between the two countries. Jaishankar's visit to Sri Lanka is part of India's Neighbor First policy.
