Kanpur, 05 October (Hindustan Reporter). A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, who was absconding in the kidnapping and murder case, had an encounter with the police team of Jajmau police station near Durga Mandir Tiraha on Saturday morning. In the encounter, the vicious criminal got injured by bullet. The criminal injured by the bullet has been admitted to Kanshi Ram Joint Hospital and Trauma Center Rama Devi Kanpur for treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police East Shravan Kumar Singh said that the vicious criminal injured by the bullet is Deepak Kumar, son of Ram Vilas, resident of Mohaddipur village of Saurikh police station area of Kannauj district. A case was registered against this in Jajmau police station on 25 November 2022 under sections 364,302, 201,406 of the Indian Penal Code. After which Deepak Kumar was absconding. A reward of twenty-five thousand rupees was also announced for his arrest.
As part of the campaign being run against criminals on the instructions of Police Commissioner Kanpur, Jajmau in-charge Inspector Ajay Prakash Mishra along with his team was busy searching for the suspects on Friday night. A suspicious person was seen near Durga Temple Tiraha on Saturday morning. When the police team tried to stop him near the New Water Treatment Plant, the accused Deepak Kumar took cover of a pipe lying inside on the other side of the road in front of the New Water Treatment Plant and started firing at the police party with the intention of killing him. In response to which the police also opened fire in self-defense. During this, the criminal got injured by a bullet in his left leg. The police team admitted him to the hospital for immediate treatment. The police team has recovered a pistol, cartridges and a motorcycle from his possession.
