Japan safely transported 11 citizens, four Frenchmen and one other from Lebanon to Jordan | News India

Tokyo, 05 October (Hindustan Reporter). Japan has started evacuating its citizens from Lebanon engulfed in the flames of war. An Air Self-Defense Force plane airlifted 16 people from Lebanon to neighboring Jordan on Friday amid escalating conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, the Japanese government said.

According to Japan Today newspaper, all of them were transported to Jordan by Japanese aircraft. The aircraft were dispatched from the ASDF base in Tottori, western Japan, on Thursday morning. On the orders of Defense Minister General Nakatani, C-2 transport aircraft were placed on standby in Jordan for the safe return of Japanese citizens.

According to Japan's Defense Ministry, among those evacuated from Lebanon, eleven Japanese citizens, four French citizens and another foreigner have been safely transported to Jordan.

The Foreign Ministry said there were about 50 Japanese citizens in Lebanon at the time of the initial Israel-Hezbollah clashes. Two of these persons had already left on a charter flight from a government aide. It reached Cyprus on Thursday. Another C-2 transport plane was dispatched from Tottori to Jordan for possible evacuation of Japanese citizens, a Defense Ministry official said. He is about to fly to Greece.
