New Delhi: The US Embassy on Monday announced that it will release an additional 2.5 lakh visa appointments to ensure that interviews can be conducted on time and the travel process runs smoothly. After Corona, there has been an increase in visa applications in almost all categories. America is taking necessary steps to reduce the duration of visa interviews from 2021.
This huge volume for US visa means that its waiting period has reduced significantly over the last three years since 2021 and especially in the last one year. Thus, for the second year in a row, Indians will account for the largest share of the more than one million non-immigrant visas issued by the US.
For example, this year the US has issued a record number of student visas to Indians. Exact figures on student visas issued to Indians are not available, but last year the US issued student visas to 1.4 lakh Indians, more than any other country issued them last year.
The US Embassy said on Monday that as per the student visa season 2024, this time we have given money to a record number of students.
With this, for the first time, all student applicants were successful in getting one out of five embassy appointments. With 2.5 lakh visa applications in India, the US has issued one million non-immigrant visas for the second consecutive year. About 10 lakh Indians traveled to America in 2024. This figure is 35 percent more than that of 2023. Nearly six million Indians hold non-immigrant visas and thousands use them on a daily basis.
