DA Hike: There is a good news for central government employees and pensioners. The government may soon announce an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). With this increase, the salary of lakhs of employees will increase, which will provide relief in the times of rising inflation.

Actually, the central government announces an increase in dearness allowance every year between July and September. According to the 7th Pay Commission, this increase is given twice a year in January and July. This tradition is expected to continue this year also.

According to media reports, this time dearness allowance is expected to increase by about 3 percent. The estimate is based on AICPI IW (All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers) data from January to June 2024. At present, central government employees are getting dearness allowance at the rate of 50 percent. If there is an increase of 3% then this rate will increase to 53%.

An official announcement from the government is awaited. It is expected that the increase in DA may be announced before Navratri. The 3 percent increase in DA will have a direct impact on the salaries of the employees. For example, employees whose monthly salary is Rs 50,000 will get a hike of around Rs 1,500. This increase is especially significant as inflation is currently on the rise.

Let us tell you that in January this year, the Central Government had increased DA by 4 percent and increased it from 46 percent to 50 percent. At that time, this increase was a great relief to the employees and pensioners. The increase in dearness allowance is usually effective from January 1 to July 1, but it is announced after some time. This means that employees and pensioners will also get back dearness allowance in the form of arrears.

This possible increase in dearness allowance will provide relief to lakhs of central government employees and pensioners. This will not only increase their monthly income but will also reduce the burden of rising inflation. However, right now this is just speculation and an official announcement is awaited.
