In Chopan police station area, police have arrested three inter-state ganja smugglers involved in drug smuggling and recovered 76 kg of illegal ganja from their possession, whose estimated value is Rs 12 lakh. The three arrested smugglers were going to bring illegal ganja from Odisha and deliver it to Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Additional Superintendent of Police Kalu Singh said on Sunday that in the ongoing operation against illegal drug smugglers, SOG, Surveillance and Chopan police station team arrested a suspect from near Chorpaniya forest on Varanasi Shaktinagar road at 06:30 pm on Saturday evening. Car stopped for inspection. When the police detained three people sitting in the car and investigated, they found two bags of illegal ganja in it. The police team brought everyone to the police station. After investigation, the police recovered 76.50 kg of illegal ganja and Rs 65,005 in cash loaded in the car from them. The estimated value of the recovered ganja is Rs 12 lakh.
On enquiry, the smugglers told that the order for the said recovered ganja was given by 03 persons respectively, Gorelal alias Babulal Kesharwani, resident of Ghatwa Tarauli Karchana Prayagraj, Ram Daras Malviya, resident of village Tita Baraya, Thana Halia, Mirzapur, Abhay Malviya, son of Ram Daras Malviya, resident of Mirzapur. Which all three of us were going to deliver from Odisha to Mirzapur.
SP Shri Singh said that in this case, Shriram Shahu, son of Lakshman Shahu, resident of village Ainlapali Tatar Fort, Parikshit Barikh, son of Shambhu Barikh, village Buramal and Chintamani Khatua, son of Ganesh Shahu, resident of village Ainlapali Tatar Fort of Odisha state district Buddh have been arrested and The names of the three to whom they were going to deliver ganja, Gorelal, Ramdars Malviya and Abhay Malviya, have been registered as wanted accused. The Superintendent of Police has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 to the police team for doing commendable work. In relation to the recovery and arrest, further action is being taken by registering a case under NDPS Act and other sections at Chopan police station.
