Wushu players from Uttar Pradesh won a total of 10 medals including four gold, 2 silver and four bronze in the 33rd National Senior Wushu Competition held in Dehradun (Uttarakhand). Uttar Pradesh also captured the runner-up trophy in the Sanda category. Sports lovers of the state expressed happiness over this success and congratulated the players.
Manish Kakkar, General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Wushu Association, Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association, while congratulating said that these players will bring glory to the entire country in future and will win the title at the world level. In Sanda category, Suraj Yadav of Uttar Pradesh Police won gold medals in less than 70 kg, Abhishek Tanwar of Gautam Buddha Nagar won gold medals in less than 90 kg and Shruti of Uttar Pradesh Police won gold medals in less than 70 kg category. Under Taulu category, Ravi Suryavanshi of Uttar Pradesh Police achieved gold medal in Nankwan and won silver medal in Nangun.
Apart from this, in Taulu category, Ginni Bhati of Gautam Buddha Nagar won silver medal in traditional event and Mohit Thapa of Uttar Pradesh Police won bronze medal in Nankwan. In Sanda category, Avneesh Yadav of Jaunpur won bronze medal in less than 52 kg, Aman of Uttar Pradesh Police won bronze medal in less than 75 kg and Sachin of Ghaziabad won bronze medal in single weapon. The coaches of Uttar Pradesh team were Sunil Kumar Prajapati (UP Police) and Ramdas Rawat (Chowk Stadium, Lucknow) and managers were Pankaj Jaiswal and Kapil Kumar.
