Gold Limit at Home: In India, gold is ahead not only as a jewellery but also in terms of investment.
Along with this, the consumption of gold in the country is also more than other countries, jewellery showrooms remain crowded during wedding ceremonies or festivals.
Amidst all this, do you know how much gold a married woman can keep in India?
Let us tell you that the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has laid down some rules regarding this, under which keeping more gold attracts tax.
According to the rules, a married woman in the country can keep up to 500 grams of gold jewellery.
If we talk about unmarried girls, then those girls who are not married can keep up to 250 grams of gold or gold jewellery with them.
As per the Income Tax rules, any man can keep up to 100 grams of gold with him, whether he is married or unmarried.
If you are found to have more gold than this, tax will be applicable on the additional gold.
Keep in mind here that if you inherit gold then it is tax free, but if you sell it then tax will be applicable on it.
However, for this you will have to provide a legal will or other proof, otherwise it will fall under the category of punishment.
