The current President of the United States Joe Biden, who is Jagat Jamadar, delivered his last speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday. During this, he mentioned the ongoing tension in the Middle East and the elections held in countries around the world, including India. In his speech, Biden gave a strong message to China that he will continue to strengthen alliances and partnerships in the Indo-Pacific.
Joe Biden told the UNO that the US should not back down from helping the world. Biden made the remarks amid threats of a full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon and the completion of nearly a year of Israel's military campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Call to end conflict in West Asia
In his address, Biden stressed the need to end conflicts in West Asia and the 17-month-long civil war in Sudan. He also underlined the full support of the US and its Western allies for Ukraine, which has been facing Russian aggression since February-2022. Biden said, “I have witnessed a remarkable change in history. I know that when many people look at the world today, they see problems and they react with despair, but not me. When the world works together, we are stronger than we think.”
Biden mentioned elections in many countries including India
US President Joe Biden said in his last speech that, from Ghana to India and South Korea, we saw the people of the world peacefully choosing their future. Elections are being held this year in countries representing a quarter of the world's population. In his last address to the United Nations as the President of the United States, Biden said at the meeting of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly that, it is remarkable that after being elected to the United States Senate for the first time in 1972, it is the power of the people here that makes me more optimistic about the future.
