Indians are the most educated working people in the world's largest economy, the US. This has been revealed in a recent report. The US think-tank Migration Policy Institute (MPI) conducted a study on the education of immigrants coming to the country (US).
According to the MPI study, Indians are the largest group of educated immigrants in the US. India alone accounts for 14 percent of the world's educated immigrants to the United States. By 2022, the US is expected to have 1.4 million educated immigrants who have obtained a college degree. The report said that 48 percent of the people who came to the US between 2018 and 2022 had a college degree. The report said that Indians and Chinese are at the forefront of college-educated immigrants.
20 lakh degree holders enter America
The report said that of the 14 million immigrants, 2 million or 13 per cent were Indians who had studied at least up to graduation. The MPI study covered youth above 25 years of age. According to the report, Chinese nationals come second after Indians. Of the total foreign-educated immigrants, the proportion of Chinese educated was 11 lakh or eight per cent. It was followed by people from the Philippines and Mexico with seven per cent and six per cent respectively.
